DANCE COMEDY-DRAMA - fat, old STEP-UP with DEVIL WEARS PRADA vibes
Ex dancer Bex (30s) hides her fashion design talents, gains weight at slimming club, gets TikTok fat shamed, and right-swipes a catfish. While her bestie Joy loses weight and joins a parent street dance crew.
The entire series for To Be Honest is a milkshake of real memories with an added shot of fashion, but it isn’t a story about weight loss. It’s about the connections we make with strangers that have a common goal or struggle. It’s about self-acceptance, self-love and self-confidence. Ultimately, the story is about a fat woman in a small world, in more ways than one, as a group of distant connections become unlikely friends, lovers and connect through their love for dance.
TV PILOT | GLITTER BOX: SAME SHIT DIFFERENT SHOW
MUSICAL DRAMEDY - CRAZY EX GIRLFRIEND meets FLEABAG
A woman with ADHD and maladaptive daydreaming escapes corporate London to discover it's the same shit different show in the buzz of quirky Brighton, where glitter-covered distractions (and her dead Aunt) come to life through her wild imagination.
GLITTER BOX is inspired by my story and created primarily to entertain and delight but, given my experience, I hope it raises awareness of the nuances of adult ADHD in women. And, as her seemingly perfect friends and colleagues unravel, I hope GLITTER BOX highlights the shitty undercurrent of the modern workplace, and raises awareness of the ubiquity of an undiagnosed workforce. Oh, and there’s a Kate Nash inspired song about a dildo. Because I can!
TV PILOT | LIFE AFTER BABY: SAUSAGE PROMISE
MANCHESTER ROM-COMEDY - HIM & HER meets COLD FEET
A nostalgic age-gap love story between a commitment phobic cougar and an over-affectionate young dreamer who, along with friends and lovers from university, struggle with adulting and feel stuck in the past.
When Erin met Kyle at university, they agreed it would never be serious, but they didn’t anticipate alienation from course friends who couldn’t get to grips with the fittest guy in their year dating a “larger” woman in her thirties. A series of flashbacks reveals their passionate physical connection and the unusual way they fall in love, alongside the contrasting reality of life in the present (6 years later). Where there’s less sex, and more hoops to jump with their reversed roles and different approaches to life and parenting.

URBAN GOTHIC FAIRYTALE / FANTASY
Imprisoned by her mother's evil twin in New York, Eve dreams of the outside, while her older sister remembers their real home beyond the trees with their real mother, a homeless tarot reader with amnesia.
Live action and/or animation potential. While Covid-19 is not part of this story at all, the chosen music, the isolation, the "protection" subtly takes viewers on an emotional journey that will resonate, uplift, offer escape, hope and a feeling of resolve with everything going on. It's emotionally targeted in that way. The chosen music helps that process, so I recommend listening to the chosen music during the read for extra tingles!
