Meet Jennifer Le Roux
jennifer le roux’s bio
Jennifer Le Roux is a southern girl who grew up in Portsmouth and lives in Brighton, but her family routes are in the north. In fact, her Grandfather Fred Lowe has a deep history in Liverpool, as the “Magic Policeman” who invented many of the magic tricks you see today, including a card trick named after him “A Card Named Fred”.
Jennifer Le Roux studied screenwriting in the 90s and mid-noughties, but later sold her soul to the corporate underworld as a digital marketer. All was not lost though, in 2016 Jennifer escaped employment and thrived as a freelance writer for top brands worldwide. So, while Jennifer’s been writing professionally as a digital marketer for more than 12 years, she is but a mere mortal at the beginnings of her screenwriting journey. In fact, it was a late diagnosis of ADHD that led Jennifer back to the craft of screenwriting in 2019, when she quickly discovered that screenwriting activated her [slow-mo hair blast] ADHD superpowers; superior verbal skills, hyperactive productivity and a limitless perspective.
An early sign of her professional marketing career paying off, her first musical dramedy TV Pilot GLITTER BOX: SAME SHIT DIFFERENT SHOW has been shortlisted for several competitions and received a 9.8/10 Screencraft score. Jennifer's also continued to receive accolades for her work including Manchester romcom drama TV Pilot LIFE AFTER BABY: SAUSAGE PROMISE, a show that charts the nuances and challenges of age gap relationships between friends and lovers. In addition to some lockdown short format scripts, and the release of her own short and web series pilot CTRL. SHIFT. ESC, Jennifer just signed an exclusive option for her dance comedy drama TO BE HONEST: LIFETIME ON THE HIPS. The same script recently had a live Zoom table read hosted by Northern Unicorn Films with an all star cast including Kerry Howard , Matt Green, Junior Simpson, and Emily Carding. Jennifer also has a short script optioned in the UK “ADHD Girl,” which will feature as part of an episodic film. And several works in progress with universal appeal to the UK and the U.S.
Jennifer predominantly writes female dominant and neurodiverse character-led comedy drama with British humour, U.S. sparkle and a meaningful underbelly. As an avid dreamer, ex dancer and singer, Jennifer also dips into my musical influences and play with the boundaries of magical realism.
Jennifer is also a hooman and furbaby mumma, with a 3 year old at home, and her bestie and life partner Josh. Recently Jennifer has been doing tarot and oracle readings to connect with her peers across the water, and found that it creates an even deeper connection, and helps guide her along the way.
